Daniel John Muszynski, 48, of Toledo, passed away on September 23, 2026.

Dan's passion was baking and sharing what he made with friends and loved ones. He was always tweaking a recipe or trying out a new technique. He was well known at the Toledo Farmers Market, where his croissant pretzels and Uptown Funk sourdough earned him a loyal following.

Dan was a fierce advocate for downtown Toledo, where he built his life. He loved supporting its local businesses, and on any walk through downtown he could tell you a factoid or two about almost every building you passed.

Dan was a debater at heart, and there was nothing he enjoyed more than a lively discussion about politics, philosophy or history. He was just as happy to opine on lighter topics, like Monty Python or the Marvel multiverse.

When he wasn't baking, Dan was most at peace outdoors. He loved hiking, backpacking and camping, and when he wasn’t in the kitchen, he was often found exploring a new trail with his dog and friends.

Dan is survived by his parents, Mary Pat and Tim Muszynski; his four sisters, Gretchen (Nick) Taylor, Emily (John) Saving, Abby (Jonah) Saving, and Beth (Josh) Britt; and his nieces and nephews, Ryan, Patrick and Mitchell Taylor, Cici and Greta Saving, and Finn and Molly Saving.

An informal Celebration of Dan's life will be held from 2:00-4:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 4, 2026, at the Buehner Center at Oak Openings Metropark.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Friends of the Smokies  or to the Metroparks Toledo Foundation. Gifts to either will help care for the trails Dan loved.
