Dameon Franciose Caldwell, 27, of Toledo Ohio, passed away on July 27th, 2022, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio after a long battle with heart failure. He was surrounded by friends, family and loved ones in his final days. Dameon was preceded in death by his mother, Nicole Caldwell. He is survived by his daughter, his sister L’Tecia Edding, his grandmother Versie Lace Cummings, his Aunt Lynn, Cousins Kay and DeeDee, and his father Antonio Davis. Dameon has also left behind an incredible family of his own choosing – a family he built and loved dearly. Dameon was the friend you never knew you needed. He gave his whole self to aiding those in need and ensuring that others did not experience hardships akin to his own. Dameon volunteered for countless charities and organizations. He worked with Toledo and Fremont Pride to provide security for the LGBTQ+ population. He worked with Promise House and St. Paul’s United Methodist Church’s Street Outreach program to help prevent youth homelessness. He was a coach for the Special Olympics and aided in a research project titled “Youth Experience of Institutional Placement” for foster children. He volunteered with Food Not Bombs and Marketplace for All People. The list goes on and on. It’s impossible to list all the ways he affected our community, but every one of us can feel his impact. Dameon has a memorial fund in his honor that will be used to help LGBTQ+ youth who have aged out of the foster system, especially those with chronic illnesses.
