Clyde Foltz

January 28, 1933 — May 29, 2023

Clyde, better known to everyone as: Joe, Joey, and/or Joseph ( later known as Dad and Paw), was born January 28 1933. He was born in Liberty Center, Ohio in his family home. He lived in Toledo, Ohio until he joined the Navy. He served in the Navy 1952-1955 as a photographer. Upon returning from the Navy, Joe resided in Toledo then moving to Holland,Ohio in 1968 where he purchased his forever home.

Joe was strong willed and had an enormous heart. He was generous, loyal, and brave. He was clever and full to the brim with knowledge gained through all of his life experiences- he could fix or build anything. His passion was putting his skills as a master mechanic to work maintaining, building, and restoring vehicles and machinery. Joe was driven; if he wanted to understand the intricacies of each part, machine, movement, and to master the requisite tool(s) for each task. Whatever he did, he was all in! Joe was an Operating Engineer at Northwest Ohio Corporation from 1956 until he retired in 1992. Joe’s passion for cars rolled over into his favorite pass time, Nascar. Joe made it a tradition to watch the Daytona 500 every year. Also, he and his traveling car show companions would travel many of miles to attend numerous car shows over the years. Joe was also known for his green thumb. His favorite was his rose bushes. He enjoyed the beauty of nature and all life had to give.

Joe will be remembered for all the heart he shared with his friends and family. He truly loved each of them- and if you knew him, you knew it. Joe was a family man! He was married to his soulmate, Barbara Jean, for a beautiful 55 years. He enjoyed the time he spent with his wife, kids, grandkids and great grandkids. He loved to share his life adventures and experiences during any and all gatherings. He loved telling the old stories and making new.

When his time came, he carried himself with dignity, strength, and full of love. He will be missed dearly. Joe is now sailing on a journey to shores that we cannot see. We know that he is free from pain and is floating peacefully in the crystal-clear turquoise waters of his dreams. “Seeing death as the end of life is like seeing the horizon as the end of the ocean."

The family is honoring Joe’s request and there will not be a service. Joe loved to see others happy and enjoying life. Please take the time to celebrate his life in a way that makes you happy. Joe will be greatly missed by the many lives he touched. In Joe’s words “go and live life!”
