In loving memory of Chester A. Minkowski, also known as Chet, unexpectedly passed away Monday, May 18, 2026, surrounded by the love of his children. He was born and raised in the Polish Village in Toledo, Ohio, on January 17, 1963, to Stanley and Alice Minkowski. He was a graduate of Woodward High School, Class of 1981.
Chet was a master at his craft that worked as a commercial door installer and service technician for over 30 years. He had many talents and was truly a jack of all trades. From fixing cars, remodeling, plumbing, electrical work, roofing, and siding, you name it, he could do it. He was always willing to lend a helping hand.
Chet enjoyed collecting and building RC cars to race with his brother Greg. He enjoyed trying his luck with scratch-off tickets and playing his favorite numbers to win the lottery. He loved rooting for the Cleveland Browns and singing the oldies. Whether he was joking around, fixing something, or making others laugh, he left a lasting impression on everyone lucky enough to know him.
He loved being a Jaja and spending time with his grandson Malakhi. They were best friends and loved their guy's nights every Friday racing cars, playing, watching movies, and having porch parties. He loved teaching him and telling him stories; he couldn't go a day without seeing or talking to him. That was his little man, his “Jaja Jr.”
He was soon to welcome his first granddaughter in September, a blessing he was incredibly excited for and already loved so deeply.
His greatest accomplishment in life was being a father. He shared a special bond with each of his children and cherished every phone call, visit, and memory made together, especially with his baby girl, Karlee.
Chet’s absence leaves an unimaginable void, but his love, laughter, stories, and memories will live forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed and never forgotten.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving children, his son, Chester Minkowski II; daughters, Katherine Minkowski, Cortnee Minkowski (Robert Momenee), and Karlee Minkowski (Kamren Guillen); grandchildren, Malakhi Minkowski, Baby Girl Momenee; mother of his children, Natalie Sumner, Debra Minkowski; sisters, Juliann Sulewski, Denise Minkowski, and Alice Hood; sister-in-law, Cindy Minkowski; nieces, Amy, Crystal, Julia, Teri Jo, Samantha, Jessica, Amanda; nephews, Gregory, Brian, Tony, and many great-nieces, great-nephews Boston (peanut), Brody, and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Alice Minkowski; brothers, Johnny, Gary, David, Greg, Gerard, and Joey Minkowski; and brother-in-law, Brian Sulewski.
Visitation for Chet will be held at Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, 440 S. Coy Rd., Oregon, Ohio 43616, on Saturday, June 13, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., with memorial services immediately following from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Family and friends are welcome to attend.
