RUTHERFORD, Charles S., known as “Chuck” or “Charlie” to family and friends, age 82, passed away peacefully on December 17, 2021 in his Oregon home, surrounded by his family. He was born to Hubert and Ocie (Stewart) Rutherford on October 31, 1939 in Bristol Tennessee. He retired from Blanchard Tree Co. as the Manager of the Tree Division, where he was a dedicated employee for 47 long years. He did so, not only to provide the absolute best for his family, but because he loved it. He began his career as a tree climber and was even known in his later years, as manager, to put on his spurs and saddle if it meant getting the job done right. He was definitely no stranger to hard work. Chuck enjoyed taking trips to Las Vegas, Atlantic City, and local area casinos with his loving wife of 51 years, Patti. He also enjoyed gardening, yard work, and most importantly spending time with his family. Sunday morning breakfasts were a family affair, and corn bread and buttermilk a personal favorite. Chuck was a nature lover, who was fond of taking frequent walks through both Pearson Metro and Maumee Bay State Parks. He loved taking family trips to his childhood home down in Tennessee. To say that Chuck was an exceptional person is beyond an understatement. He was the most loving, caring, kindest, selfless, non-judgemental man this world has ever known. He was the greatest husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend that ever was. For those lucky enough to have known him, they will go through this life with the knowledge, that they knew the man who made a difference, in both this world and the people who he touched. And for those people who never had to chance to know or even cross paths with Chuck, hopefully reading this with give you a sense of the man you never knew. Preceded in death by his parents, brothers Junior and Johnny, sister Shelby (Arvle) Woods. Survived by beloved wife of 51 yrs. Patti (Palencsar) Rutherford, son Charlie(Valerie)Rutherford, daughters Jamie(Larry)Carroll, Carol Cole, Charlotte and Betty Rutherford, grandsons Logan and Dylan, granddaughters Charli “Sissy”, Jamie, Hannah, brother-in-law Arvle Woods, special nephew Ken(Trudy)Woods.
