Charles Edward Moran, born on January 29, 1946, passed away suddenly on January 3, 2025. Charles had a contagious smile, was a beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who touched the lives of many with his kindness and dedication.
Charles graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1964 and dedicated 40 years to a fulfilling career at General Motors. He bravely served his country in the Vietnam War from 1965 to 1970, earning numerous honors including the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device, Expert Badge Rifle M14, and two Overseas Bars.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Marie Moran, and his siblings Charla Rybczynski, Phyllis Dailey, Corene Biebesheimer, and Michael Moran. Charles is survived by his siblings Thomas Moran, Jimmy Moran, Marilyn Johnoff, and Joan Moran, all of whom have cherished memories with him.
Charles is survived by his sons, Sean (Ruby Moran), daughter Marissa Moran Smith, Ryan Moran, and Dustin Nowak (Marlene Nowak). He was the proud grandfather of Michael, Christian, and Mia Moran, Damon, Martwuan, DaJah, and Danay Smith, and Alexander Nowak. Charles adored his seven great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy to his life. Charles’ will be deeply missed by his best friend, Jack Wooten.
Charles will be remembered for his unwavering commitment to his family, his service to his country, and his smile that never failed to warm the hearts of many.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Charles Moran and his brother Michael Moran will be held Friday January 31st at 11:00am at the Historic Church of St. Patrick’s, downtown Toledo. The family will welcome guests at 10:00am in the narthex of the church. A celebration of life for all of Charles’ friends and family with be held on February 1st from 1:00 to 5:00pm at Club 16 on King Road.
