Charles Roger Giles, 75, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2011 at Hospice of NW Ohio after a brief illness. He was born August 21, 1935 to Charles and Alma (Stahl) Giles of Oregon, Ohio. He graduated from Clay High School in 1953. He attended John Carroll University and the University of Toledo. A veteran of the US Army he served in Germany and was honorably discharged in 1960. He worked for W.W.Williams selling heavy duty equipment for a number of years. He was a finish carpenter retiring from Union Local 1138 in 1999.He loved hunting and fishing and being outdoors in his garden or on his patio with his loyal canine, Dixie by his side. In the fall you could find him in his favorite hunting woods or shooting trap at Camp Perry. He married his wife, Anita, on October 3, 1985 and they enjoyed traveling together for several years. He loved remodeling their home and being in his workshop. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren grow.He was a member of Paragon Lodge AF&M and a 32nd degree Mason. He was a member of Zenobia Shrine, a member of the Temple Guard Unit and was a Jester for several years. He was a member of the Port Clinton Elks, Rossford Eagles, PGCA and North Branch Boys Fly Fishing Club.He is survived by his loving wife of twenty five years, Anita (Rospert) Giles; sons Craig (Juanita) Dazey and Scott Dazey; sister, Nancy Ragsdale; sister-in-law, Jan Rospert; brother-in-law, Greg (Jamie) Rospert; grandchildren, Krystal Anita Dazey, Craig Mike Dazey, Dalton Dazey, Brian Dazey, Veronica Dazey and Kathryn Heckman; nephews Lyndon (Jacque) Busch, Ralph Ragsdale, Jr., Don (Lisa) Bleim of Burlington, Iowa; Jameyson Rospert; nieces, Kelly (Nolan) Thomson of Cambridge, IL; Raychyl Rospert, Haylley Rospert; cousins, Bob (Louise) Giles of Huntington Woods, Mi; several second cousins and six great nieces/nephew.There will be a celebration of his life held on Saturday, August 13, 2011 at the Rossford United Methodist Church, 270 Dixie Hwy., Rossford, Oh. Visitation will start at 10 a.m. with the Memorial Service beginning at 11 a.m. with Pastor Bob Ball officiating. A lunch will be held immediately following for all those in attendance.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Zenobia Shrine Hospitals or to Hospice of NW Ohio, Perrysburg. The family would like to thank all the wonderful caregivers at Hospice of NW Ohio who made his brief stay so comfortable and a special thank you to his nurse Darla.
