Charles “Chuck” Farell, passed away at the Lakes of Sylvania, on March 10th, 2023 at the age of 91. Chuck was born on August 9th, 1931, to Charles and Frances (Fannelly) Farell and grew up on the East Side of Toledo. He attended Holy Rosary Elementary School, Central Catholic High School, and Toledo University before serving in the U. S. Army as a dental technician. He married Bertha “Terry” Cupps on November 13th, 1954, and together they raised three sons, Greg, Tom, and Larry.
The family enjoyed traveling and camping at area lakes, with Manipogo and Barton Lakes topping the list as their favorites. They enjoyed the camping so much, that in 1975 a small lakeside cottage was purchased near Adrian, Michigan that continues to be the summer hot spot for the entire family, being host to countless birthday parties, graduation parties, holiday celebrations and even a wedding. Chuck was a proud Toledo Firefighter and served the Toledo Community from Station 18 for the majority of his 28 year career until he retired in 1987. During his “Kelly Days” and even into post-retirement, Chuck worked at the hardware store on Stickney Avenue assisting customers with his extensive handyman knowledge. Chuck was a true “Jack of All Trades” in that he could repair or fix everything and anything. In his later years, he truly enjoyed “puttering” at the lake and was always willing and able to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Chuck adored all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was always available to be on “grampa duty” whether as a babysitter, taxi-cab driver, or sideline sports cheerleader. Chuck was a kind-hearted, humble, and loving husband, brother, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose wisdom and presence will be dearly missed by all. He will be forever in our hearts.
Besides his parents, Chuck was preceded in death by siblings, Josephine Kelly, Patricia Roby, Pearl Pelczarski, and Jean Norton; daughter-in-law Tina Farell. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Terry Farell; sons Greg (Susan) Farell, Tom (Connie) Farell, and Larry Farell; grandchildren Kristy (Evan) Crandall, Eric (MacKenzie) Farell, Natalie (Joey Boarini) Farell, Lauren (Tim) Passerell, Kelly (Jamie) Rammel and Allison Farell; great-grandchildren Ayden, Madison, Victoria Crandall, and Charlie Farell.
