Catherine Margaret Koch

Catherine Koch, age 97, passed away Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. She was born in Toledo, Ohio on May 31, 1916 to Helen and Dr. Walter Hartung, Sr. She was Valedictorian of her class at Central Catholic High School where her husband was Salutatorian. She later graduated from DeSales and Toledo Teachers Colleges, with a masters degree in French. She spent many years of her career teaching at Our Lady of Perpetual Help School. Catherine also volunteered most of her adult life as a polling judge at elections. She was the daughter of the former Ohio State Health Commissioner and City of Toledo Health Commissioner and married to the former Director of the City of Toledos Department of Urban Renewal.Surviving are her children Mary Ann (Robert) Kurtz, John Koch, Jim (Georgia) Koch, Martha Koch, and Barbara (Matthew) Lewis, eight grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and extended family members. Catherine was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Walter Koch and siblings Rita (Wilson) Hartung and Dr. Walter Hartung, Jr.Services will be private.
