Cassandra Mary (Mitchell) Hines

July 6, 1952 — January 25, 2009

Cassandra “Sandie” (Mitchell) Hines, 56, passed away Sunday, January 25, 2009 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Toledo after a courageous two year battle with breast cancer. Sandie never gave up hope even up to her final hour when God chose to escort her home. Sandie was born in Toledo, Ohio on July 6, 1952 to Donald and the late Mary (Smith) Mitchell. She attended Trinity Lutheran Grade School and Maumee High School. Sandie married the late Thomas L. Hines, although they divorced, they remained friends. Together they had a daughter, Candice S. Hines of Columbus who still survives. Sandie was a loving and caring mother to her son, Gilbert Bailey who also survives. Sandie was a sales representative for B B Box Company in Perrysburg until her illness forced her to retire. Other survivors include her father, Donald and step-mother, Christine Mitchell of Waterville; sister, Kathie (Jim) Conner of Luckey; brothers, Robert (Sue) Mitchell and David Mitchell; former sister-in-law, Diana Pruss; step sister, Joann (Scott) Nuzum, and their family of 31; Step brothers, John (Betty) Snyder and James Snyder as well as aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Other people who mourn her passing include dear and devoted friend of 35 years, Antoinette “Toni” (Dennis) Wikstrom and their family, supportive and caring friends, Leila and Craig Zenil and former mother and father-in-law, Joy and Galen Hines. Special Thanks to all who gave her loving care during her illness, especially the staff at Hospice and her support group of family and friends. Also, a special thanks to all the generous blood donors who helped to extend Sandies time with her family. There will be no visitation per Sandies request. A private cremation interment at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park will take place at a later date. A memorial service will be held at LifePoint Church, 8239 Waterville-Swanton Rd. (Route 64) Waterville on Saturday, January 31, 2009 at 2:00pm. The celebration of Sandies life will be led by Pastor Richard Henry. I lieu of flowers, the family suggests tributes/memorials be sent to Huntington Bank, care of Candice HInes, in Sandies memory to aid with final expenses. The family has entrusted the Cremation Society of Toledo with Sandies care. Online condolences may be made below. “Just remember the good times and the fun weve shared along the way.”
