Carroll R. Mcleod

Carroll Roy McLeod “Smooth McLeod” passed away on December 6, 2022 at 5:19 pm in Toledo, Ohio.

Carroll was born in Barre, Vermont on February 25, 1947 to Theresa (Williams) and Robert McLeod. He enlisted in the US Army and was deployed to Vietnam during The Vietnam War. After he returned, he used his GI Bill to earn his Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering. He started his career at Western Electric, which changed to AT&T and then to Lucent Technologies. He was with them for over 30 years. During his career life, he had three amazing daughters. Together, they celebrated many holiday parties, amusement parks, etc. with his work.

Outside of work, Dad loved couching softball. He loved it so much that he was one of the founders of the Crystal Lake Softball League. He couched Brenda and Mary’s teams during their entire childhood/adolescence. He also loved fishing and would bring his girls to Lake Summerset often to fish, camp and spend time at the beach. He also loved his family back home and brought his girls to visit them at least once a year. This also included visiting his best friend, David (Nora) Grenier, at his camp.

Carroll enjoyed his retirement, he bought his blue corvette and would drive to all sorts of destinations with his wife, Sharon. He enjoyed getting family and friends together to celebrate. He was “the life of the party.” He always made sure that no one was on empty. Before and after his stroke in 2014, he loved going out to dinner and celebrating the ones he loves. He loved being a grandpa and always lit up when his grandchildren were around.

Carroll is survived by his three daughters, Laura McLeod, Brenda (Donald) McGuire and Mary (Mike) Lippens; his two grandchildren, Piper McGuire and Donald McGuire Jr.; his two sisters, Mary (Steve) Grace and Janice (Fuzzy) Fassett and one brother, Richard (Becky) McLeod.

Carroll was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon; his mother, Theresa; his father, Robert; his brother, Danny and his sister, Caroline.
