Carolyn A. Zautner Wilson

Carolyn "Carol" Zautner Wilson passed away July 7, 2023, with all her children and grandchildren gathering to her bedside.

Born July 11, 1943, Carol was the oldest of five children and was just 4 days shy of her 80th birthday. A lifelong Toledo, Ohio, resident, she was a 1961 Woodward High School graduate. Carol married Robert Edward (Bob) Zautner, (deceased) after he returned from his Army tour of duty in 1963. Together they raised four children: daughters, Natalie Sumner, Susan Webb (Dennis) and Tricia Burns (Danny) and son, Robert Michael "Rob" and his wife Lisa. While raising their blue collar family of modest means, Carol worked at St.Mary's of Toledo to provide tuition for her children to attend there. Always a worker, she held various positions in food service, hospital rooms aide, cleaning, and caregiving. Through the years she was employed at St. Vincent's and Toledo Hospitals, Foundation Park and other local nursing homes. When she retired from full-time work, Carol continued to volunteer weekly at St.Charles Hospital in Surgery Waiting. Carol was a friend to all she met and could hardly go out and about without meeting someone who knew her and her friendly smile.

A full life of caring for family and always being the first to offer help, her fondest role was as mother and grandmother to her 4 children, her 11 grandchildren, Stepheny, Chet, Ashlee, Kaydee, Danielle, Corey, Mark, Stephen, Dale, Brooke, Allison, and 11 great-grandchildren. She was a loving sister to surviving sibling, Patricia Longenberger. Carol was preceeded in death by brothers, Michael and Rick and sister, Andrea. The death of her grandson, Corey Zautner was of great sadness to her.

Carol was widowed from second husband R. Wilson, and thereafter resided in the Oregon, Ohio, community to be near her family and her volunteer work.

As all her children, grandchildren and sister gathered at her bedside, the love Carol gifted her family was firm within each of their hearts. Of the many who would say to her, "I love you," Carol would always,always respond, "I LOVE YOU MORE"...

Truly, she did, and for that she will never be forgotten.

A Life Celebration for Carol will be Sunday, July 16, 2023 from 1-4 pm. Please join family and friends at the Iron Workers Local 55 Union Hall, 1080 Atlantic Ave Toledo, OH 43609
