Carole A. Martin

Carole A. (Toms) Martin passed away peacefully on February 19, 2024 at Foundation Park Care Center. She was born on March 14, 1945 in Toledo, OH to Harold Toms, Sr. and Ouida Ware Toms.

Carole was educated in Toledo Public Schools and graduated from Scott High School in 1963. She continued her education at Bliss Business College in Columbus, Ohio and after graduation found employment at GMAC in Toledo where she worked for 30 years before retiring. During that time, she also became a student at Lourdes College in Sylvania, Ohio and graduated with a Bachelor of Education degree. In her retirement years she became a substitute teacher for Toledo Public Schools.

Outside of work she was active in the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, the National Association of Colored Women's Club, and The Girl Friends. She was also an active member of All Saints Episcopal Church.

Carole was preceded in death by her grandmother, Effie Murdock; parents, Ouida and Harold Toms, Sr.; and brother, Harold Toms, Jr.

Left to cherish her memory are her son, Donald Martin, Jr.; sister, Delores Toms of Majave, California; brother, Richard Toms of New Mexico; Douglas Toms of Fenley, Nevada; as well as many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Interment will be at Historic Woodlawn Cemetery with prayers and remarks.
