Carol Jean Slaybaugh

We are sad to announce the unexpected passing of our dear mom and sister, Carol Jean (Curley) Slaybaugh, age 76. Carol was born on November 28, 1947, to parents Thomas and Ursula (Jacobs) Curley in Toledo, Ohio. She graduated from Waite High School, married Joseph Kovach, and began a family.

Later in life, Carol worked in retail and the insurance industry and held various administrative positions. After marrying her husband, Jim Slaybaugh, they moved to Florida, where they lived for 18 years. Together, they enjoyed traveling to Spain, Mexico, and other destinations. After Jim’s death, Carol returned to Toledo to be near family, where she particularly enjoyed family gatherings, summer swim parties, and the holidays.

Carol’s children, Brian Kovach and Jeff Kovach, will deeply miss her. She is further survived by her grandchildren, Rachel Kovach and Kaitlynn Kovach; great-granddaughter, Amelia Kovach; sister, Marianne (Ken) Palinski; brother, Thomas (Kathy) Curley; and many nieces and nephews as well as great-nieces and great-nephews; and numerous friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Slaybaugh; parents, Thomas and Ursula; sister, Kay Ann Curley; and brother, Daniel Curley.

Friends and family are invited to attend a funeral service in memory of Carol on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 4560 Glendale Avenue, Toledo, Ohio, at 11:00 a.m. (Parking in the east lot.)
