Carol Jean Rickner, age 66, of Toledo, OH, passed away peacefully at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, surrounded by her loving family, Saturday, December 9th, 2023. She was born September 12th, 1957, to Gordon and Sevelia (Lafountain) Brough in Toledo, OH.
Carol graduated from Waite High School, class of ‘75, and began working many years in the dietary field, helping others in their time of need. She faithfully served at Hospice of Northwest Ohio for the last 13 years. Carol loved dancing, playing cards, and thrifting. However, her greatest joy was spending time with her family. She cherished and held dear every moment spent with her grandchildren. Whether attending their events or spending quality time at home with them, she was their biggest fan.
Carol is survived by her daughter, Nicole (Billy) Hayes; son, Ryan Rickner; grandchildren, Chanlor Hayes, Brandon Hayes, Kayleigh Rickner, Bella Hayes, Jace Hayes, Ryan Rickner Jr., Cali Rickner, Brinley Hayes, Colt Rickner, Clay Rickner; great grandson, Liam Hayes; sister, Karen (Jim) Larson; brothers, Gordon (Barbara) Brough, Jeff (Penny) Brough; as well as various nieces, nephews, and dear friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Sharon Rydman.
Carol can be best described as loving, selfless, persevering, compassionate, and witty. The only thing stronger than her will, was her faith. She was the strongest woman I know, my best friend whom I was blessed to call mom. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, January 26th, 2024, from 2-8 pm, at W.W. Knight Nature Preserve located at 29530 White Rd, Perrysburg, OH 43551.
