Brian R. Miller

Jun 15, 1959 — Jul 6, 2026

Brian Ray Miller, age 67, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away on July 6, 2026. Born on June 15, 1959, Brian built a life rooted in faith, family, hard work and a deep love for the outdoors.

Brian spent 42 years building and running his own business, Tender Lawn Care (TLC). He took pride in every yard he cared for, often stopping to chat with customers, offer advice, or lend a hand; never in a rush when someone needed assistance or advice. Through TLC, Brian offered opportunities to many disabled and disadvantaged workers, giving them a chance to change their lives. His belief in people and his willingness to give second chances became one of the quiet hallmarks of his business.

As a lifelong adventurer, Brian embraced experiences that shaped countless memories. As an Eagle Scout, he learned early the value of perseverance and service. He carried those lessons with him on mission trips to Honduras and Cuba, where he poured his energy into helping others, making new friends, and sharing the gospel of Jesus.

Brian's love for the outdoors began early and grew into a defining part of his life. In high school, he and his brother, Jeff, were part of a trap shooting team that earned 2nd place in the nation, guided by their father, Raymond, who served as the assistant coach. He also enjoyed water skiing and parasailing with his siblings, embracing any chance to be active and outdoors. His passion for nature continued throughout his life, leading him to experiences most people only hear stories about. He hunted bear in Canada and Maine, and moose in Alaska. He explored the ocean depths on scuba adventures. He became an avid fisherman, hunter, and trapper - passions he joyfully shared with his children. He also rescued and released animals through the humane society, guided by a respect for wildlife and a desire to protect it.

Brian cherished the simple joys of life. He loved sharing Mexican food and margaritas with his daughter which were moments filled with laughter, love, and easy conversation. He found pure happiness in making his granddaughter, Emma, smile during their trips to the park, where playtime turned into treasured memories. He also enjoyed golfing with his son, Hunter, where time on the course became a blend of friendly competition, quiet reflection, and the bond between father and son.

Brian's special gift was his ability to strike up a conversation with anyone, anytime, about anything - usually something outdoors-related. A complete stranger would become a new friend exchanging contact information. His gift would often lead him to sharing the love of Jesus which was a blessing to many.

Brian is survived by his children, Hunter Miller (30) and Haleigh Miller (29); his granddaughter, Emma Miller (4) and a grandson who will join the family later this year. He is also survived by his mother, Ann Miller; his brother, Jeff Miller (Vicki Miller); his sisters, Joy Kierczak (Mike Kierczak) and Mary Beth Nelson (Pat Nelson); and friend, Gina Stier, who remained a blessing in his life.

He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Miller, whose influence shaped many of Brian's values, passions, and the way he moved through the world.

His legacy of faith, love, strength, and kindness will continue through everyone who knew him.
