He attended Libbey High School where he met his wife, Suzan and soon after had three children.Brett was very active for as long as physically possible. Many people would not guess he was even sick because he was too busy living life.He was a kind person with an amazing heart and a funny sense of humor guaranteed to make you smile. With him there was never a dull moment. He loved his family the most. Brett had a lifetime love of riding motorcycles and tinkering on car projects. He even taught his children to ride as kids and both his grandsons know how and love to ride also. He was always on the go. Dialysis could not stop him from living his life to the fullest. His drive was his children and grandchildren.Brett started working young washing dishes in a restaurant at 14, then he delivered newspapers for the Toledo Blade. He helped build docks down on Broadway near the Toledo Zoo while waiting the birth of his first child, Tiffanee all before he was 18. He moved up to become a car porter and detailed cars at Franklin Park Lincoln Mercury on Conant. While working there his only son, Brett Jr was born. His family was growing fast and he was determined to always provide for them. Brett’s son was six weeks old when he and Suzan married on June 23, 1989. To add to the excitement, Brittanee was born eight months later to close a chapter in their lives. Brett’s heart was full and overwhelmed at times but he loved his family always. Brett ended his work life working in building maintenance for Dave Ball in downtown Toledo. No one could ever say he was lazy or did not provide for his family. Sometimes, he worked too much.Brett fought against all odds and even his doctors beating the timeline laid before him. His determination was that of a warrior; as his brother would tell him.
