Brandon Paul Labay

April 15, 1978 — May 26, 2022

With deep sorrow, his parents report Brandon Paul LaBay, age 44, of Holland, Ohio, lost his battle with alcoholism on May 26, 2022. Brandon was born April 15, 1978, to Denise (Chartier) and Paul LaBay. In 1996, Brandon graduated from Springfield High School, Holland, and worked for a time in the family commercial remodeling and signage business. Through this work, Brandon met the love of his life, Amanda (Graves), and moved to Indianapolis. The two married June 4, 2005, in a Las Vegas ceremony, spending their honeymoon at Mandalay Bay, truly the best option for the new bride – Amanda LaBay at Mandalay Bay. Amanda and Brandon brought two remarkable little people into the world for the benefit of all to enjoy, the creative and well-spoken Anna Marie LaBay on July 30, 2010, to move mountains and the creative and deep-in-thought Maggie Jean LaBay on November 9, 2012, to convince the mountains why they needed moved. Both girls reside in Indianapolis with their mother, and the world will be privileged by the great things to come from these two, honestly. In Indianapolis, Brandon and Amanda both worked for Ell Enterprises in the commercial fixture remodeling trade. Brandon then worked as a production manager for California Closets before venturing into businesses both for himself and with friends. Brandon’s vocation came to him naturally as though genetic. His passion for custom woodworking spanned the gamut of cabinets, furniture, and shelving, each piece and project masterfully crafted, each meeting a standard of perfection only Brandon could reach. Also, a skilled metal-worker, Brandon taught lifelong blacksmiths techniques they knew nothing about, forging knives in the vein of Damascus steel, emblazing his trademark symbol of a bumble bee on each piece. His talents are summed in his business card – Anything is possible. Brandon taught us much from his short life. From the twisted lesson of addiction, we learned from Brandon that family and friends matter most, laughter, too, that our time here is short, and that we must each find ways to make it last. Brandon is survived by: sisters Heather LaBay, Ashley LaBay, and Julia LaBay Darrah (Jon); nieces Amber Toth, Lindsey Toth, and Effie Darrah; nephews Dustin Bolton, Cyan Graham, Sage Graham, Adam Chartier, Benjamin Chartier, and Casey Chartier; cousin Jimmy Blatchford (Mallory); uncles Bradley Chartier and Brent Chartier. A celebration of Brandon’s life will be held at his parents’ home in Holland on July 2, 3-7 p.m. Contributions are being accepted for Brandon and Amanda’s daughters. An account has been set up to benefit Anna and Maggie LaBay at Genoa Bank in Maumee. You can contribute by visiting Genoa Bank in Maumee or PayPal @annaandmaggielabay.
