Betty Landry

Betty Jean (Sanders) Landry, age 80, passed away on July 16, 2025, in Sylvania, Ohio. She was born on February 16, 1945, in Edwards, Mississippi, to the late Nazareth and Rosie Mae Sanders.

Betty attended Jesup W. Scott High School and later began her career with Toledo Public Schools, where she dedicated many years of service before retiring.

A woman of many talents, Betty found joy in cooking, playing cards with her sisters, crocheting, bowling, and visit to the casino. She was truly one of a kind—loving, comical, honest, witty, and genuine. Her kindhearted nature was matched by her bold and vibrant personality. Betty had an eclectic sense of style, with a gift for blending the unexpected—mixing classic pieces with bohemian flair, vintage treasures with modern accents.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Nazareth and Rosie Mae Sanders; brothers, Willie, Moses, Amos, and Adolph Sanders; and sisters, Ida (Leon) Barnett and Barbara Sanders.

She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Earl (Leo) Landry, DeSonta Landry-Scott, Terrie (Brian) Cook, and Erik Landry; her brother, Nazareth Sanders Jr.; sisters, Gladys Armstrong, Delores Law, Josie Patterson, Debran (Earl) Brown, and LaVern (Judge) Rhodes; sisters-in-love, Anita Sanders, Bonita Palmer Sanders and Audrey (Freddie) Jeffries; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and a host of loving family and dear friends.
