Betty J Burkett

Betty Burkett went home to be with the Lord on June 19, 2021. She was born to Elmer Beard and Elsie “Irene” Munson in Fremont, Ohio on March 3, 1930. As the organist for Fremont’s Memorial EUB Church, she met her husband-to-be, John Burkett, the new Choir Director in 1951. They married the following year and had four children. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Eugene Lee, her sweetheart John, and her youngest son Shawn. She is survived by her sons Scott (Kathy), Steve (Sharon), and daughter Shannon Blessing (David). She had 9 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Betty played piano and organ for several of the churches that John served as Pastor, and enjoyed singing or performing duets with John occasionally during his church services. She was a rather prolific writer and enjoyed surprising family and friends with the gift of one of her masterpieces. She loved laughing and sharing her joy with anyone who crossed her path. She had tons of adoring friends and shared her heart and her joy with one and all. Betty was a very devout Christian who loved the Lord with all her being. She sought to live by the example that Jesus taught us. Her love of the Lord made her who she was. A private service will be observed on Saturday, June 26, 2021.
