Betty Jean Borger

Betty Jean (Donnal) Borger, 81, passed away at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, in Perrysburg, Ohio, on Sunday, March 9, 2025, surrounded by her family.

Betty is survived by her loving husband, Jim Borger; son, Brian (Janice) Borger; daughter, Jill Ritchie; grandchildren, Alex (Tiffany) Borger, Tyler Borger, Hannah (Russell) Finn, Kayla Ritchie and Nicholas (River) Ritchie; step grandchildren, Shaun and Beth Sager, great-grandsons, Parker Borger and Simon Finn; and brother, Robert Donnal. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clara and Chester Donnal and siblings, Chuck Donnal, Eve Jacobsen, Jerry and Dennis Donnal.

Betty was born on March 13, 1943, in McGuffey, Ohio. After moving to Toledo, Ohio, she attended Waite High School, where she graduated in 1961. Her first job was at Reid’s Sweet Shop on Paine Street. She worked in a chiropractic office for a few years and eventually moved on to be a secretary at a law firm. At her last job, in 1986, she started from the ground up, taking on secretarial and bookkeeping duties, at MacMillan, Sobanski & Todd, establishing the new law firm.

Betty enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved going to bingo and casinos. She was the queen of Scrabble and often played online with friends and family. Betty was always generous to her immediate family as well as her extended family and acquaintances.

There will be no immediate service, but a Celebration of Life will be planned in the coming weeks.
