Inspiring local activist and beloved mother, Beth Slaughterbeck, age 44, tragically passed away on December 1st, 2022. She is survived by her daughter, Skai Stelzer; mother, Teresa Nichoson; stepfather, Larry Nichoson; brother, William Slaughterbeck; sister, Renee Slaughterbeck; nephews, Sevren Stelzer, Porter Slaughterbeck, Elias Slaughterbeck, and niece, Manon Slaughterbeck. She was preceded in death by her father, Sam Slaughterbeck. Everywhere Beth went, she was able to make a friend. Her greatest strength and sometimes biggest weakness was her willingness and ability to forgive.
Beth was born on June 24th, 1978, in Toledo Ohio, where she continued to live for most of her life. Beth was a proud “East Side Native” who took pride in being a part of the rich culture of the area. Throughout her life, she volunteered for many different local organizations including Food Not Bombs, America Coming Together, Mobile Meals, and the Humane Society. Beth studied liberal arts at Owen’s Community College and the University of Toledo. She constantly advocated for the less fortunate and never wavered on her core ideals. Beth described herself as “spiritual but not religious"; she was interested in many different religions from all parts of the world and attended the Unitarian Universalist Church. She was highly creative and loved giving life to otherwise discarded objects. She will be greatly missed.
