Benjamin P. Colosky

Benjamin P. Colosky passed away peacefully in Oregon, Ohio on November 13, 2023.


Ben was born in Perth Amboy, New Jersey on January 24, 1932, to the late Benjamin and Anna Colosky. In 1953, he married Louise Anita Johnston from Plainfield, New Jersey.


He earned Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Ceramics Engineering from Rutgers University. While working on his doctorate he served as an instructor at Rutgers’ College of Engineering. He earned a Master of Science in Management from MIT's Sloan School (1967). He was a member of Tau Beta Pi (the national engineering honors society), Keramos, (the ceramic engineering honor society) and Sigma Xi (a research honor society). In 1972 he was awarded "Engineer of the Year" by the Rutgers Engineering Society and served as a visiting professor for the College of Engineering at Rutgers from 1977 to 1985.


Ben’s career included executive positions in business development and marketing at Owens Illinois, Fansteel, RCA and Corning Glass. After retiring from Owens Illinois, he became a consultant specializing in reengineering and business development.


Ben's Interests and hobbies included photography and camera restoration, motorcycle riding, skeet shooting competitions, personal computers and he enjoyed listening to classical music.


Ben was predeceased by his wife Louise, his parents, and both of his siblings. He is survived by his son Charlie Colosky and wife Shari, daughter Janice Miller and husband Terry, daughter Susan Hickman and husband Bruce, grandsons Sean Davis and Christopher DuVall, granddaughter Jessica DuVall and great granddaughters Hannah Davis, Lauren Davis and Kiera Strickland.


Our family wishes to thank the dedicated individuals from Landings of Oregon, CareLine Physicians, and the Hospice groups who devotedly cared for him.


Ben lived his life quietly helping others. He was known to share his knowledge, mentor young entrepreneurs, buy groceries for single moms and young families, provide transportation or gas money to youngsters and countless other acts of humble kindness. Ben would be honored if you would consider a random act of kindness in memory of him.
