Barry A. Campbell, 62, of Willard and New London Ohio passed away Thursday January 29th at Stein Hospice in Sandusky after a short brave battle with cancer. He was born February 25th, 1963 to his late mother Shirley (Stiles) Campbell.
Barry worked for years as a GED teaching assistant before retiring due to health challenges. He was proud of both getting his GED as well as helping many others get theirs.
Barry was a kind and generous man who loved helping others and did so often. He very much enjoyed helping and hanging out with his friends at the apartment complex where he lived. Many nights saw them sharing community dinners together. He also loved to donate things to children in need to put a smile on their faces. Barry was also the best brother a person could have ever asked for.
Barry enjoyed many things but perhaps none as much as seeing live contemporary Christian concerts. As one of his high school friends noted, it was obvious that those concerts were Barry’s happy place. Often the local Hope Fest was the highlight of his summer. He also enjoyed all things Cleveland sports, especially the Browns who he watched with his brother Jeff both at the stadium as well as Jeff’s home on TV. He loved fishing and shared many fishing adventures with his brother over the years highlighted by a trip to Reelfoot Lake TN several years ago. He loved taking care of tropical fish and maintained quite a few tanks in the community room where he lived giving pleasure to many.
He is survived by his brother, Jeff Campbell, along with many cherished friends, including Stacy Barrett who visited Barry every day of his 4-month long battle with cancer. He often called her his adopted sister.
In keeping with Barry’s wishes he will be cremated with a Celebration of Life for close friends and family to be held by his brother at a later date. Memorial contributions may be directed to either Cancer Services of Sandusky Ohio (www.cancerresources.org) who provide amazing support locally for cancers patients or to the American Cancer Society.
