Barbara Ann Shanahan, age 87, of Perrysburg, passed away August 25, 2021 at Otterbein Senior Living Perrysburg. She was born July 25, 1934 in Fremont, OH to William and Pearl “Pat” (Losey) Titsworth. Barb proudly earned her degree in Radiology Technology and went on to become the chief x-ray technician at Parkview Hospital in Toledo. Later in her career she managed several physician’s offices and ran their x-ray process. Barb grew up in Fremont where she attended Fremont-Ross High School and played trumpet in the marching band. Her passion for music continued throughout her life, reveling in the big band era with favorites performed by Glenn Miller and Tommy Dorsey. Barb loved to entertain her friends, and her greatest joy was spending time with her family. When her children were young, Barb loved taking them to visit with extended family at the Lakeside community along Lake Erie. She enjoyed friendly competitions, often organizing a card game, a family boardgame night, or playing a round of golf at Maple Grove Golf Course. In more recent years, Barb liked to spend time reading and watching old westerns or classic movies. Her relaxation time would often include a coveted vodka martini on the rocks. An exceptional storyteller, Barb will be remembered for her wit and hilarious expressions. She was uniquely capable of delivering a colorful turn of phrase and kept that sense of humor and delivery until the end. Barb is survived by her children, Sue (Larry) Parnell, Tom (Kim) Shanahan, and Deb (Jon) Hackathorn; grandchildren, Kelly Parnell, Ryan (Katie) Parnell, Kayla (Austen) Boone, and Mike Shanahan; and great-granddaughter, Marley Jo. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Mark Shanahan; beloved siblings, Russ McCormack, Geraldine Dagnall, William Titsworth, and twin-sister, Betty Stachoviak; and dearest friend, Jenny Haluczik. Barb’s family would like to extend a special thanks to the staffs of Otterbein Senior Living and Ashanti Hospice for their excellent care. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be given to Ashanti Hospice or the American Diabetes Association.
