Barbara B. Rosenthal

Barbara Bassett Rosenthal, age 89, passed peacefully on Monday, January 27, 2020 in Sylvania, Ohio. She was born on June 9, 1930 in St. Louis, Missouri, the daughter of the late Robert Boyd Bassett, MD and Edith Cann Bassett. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Ralph Rosenthal and her daughter, Lucia Marie Rosenthal-Jacobs. She is survived by her son, John Gregory Rosenthal, MD, and her daughters Margaret Mary Hurley and Mary Susan Miller.  Her loving grandchildren are Christopher Ryan Rosenthal, Caroline Bassett Miller, Ashley Rosenthal Kozak, Lauren Angela Miller, Brittany Rosenthal Bossier, Olivia Mock Miller, Haley Elizabeth Rosenthal, and William Brooks Miller.  Her adorable and loving great-grandchildren are Chase Brennan Kozak and Eloise Josephine Bossier. Barbara and her family were longtime residents of St. Louis, going back to her great-grandparents.  She also lived in West Barnstable, MA, Stamford, CT and Raleigh, NC.  She was well known for her love of travel and adventure with family.  She was also known for her intricate crafting of costumes and baptismal gowns which she was known to donate to the families of lost preemies. Barbara’s favorite charity had always been St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Her remains will be interred alongside her husband, Robert, in Barnstable, MA which will be privately attended by her family and local friends.
