Barbara Jean Haggerty (Block), age 76, of Toledo, Ohio passed away peacefully Saturday, June 10, 2023 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio Toledo. She was born January 3, 1947 in Toledo, Ohio to Walter R. and Rosemary C. (Sehlmeyer) Block.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her son-in-law, Joseph Cole. Barb is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Robert M. Haggerty; 5 children, Teri (John) Klinger, Laurie Cole, Rich (Susan) Grau, Angie (Tony) Hartzell and Beth Grau; 12 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren.
Barb retired from Lowe’s in 2016 after many years of service in the retail industry. Upon her retirement she was acknowledged by her employer as one of the most knowledgeable and dependable employees to work beside. This brought her a great sense of pride.
She was well-known for saying “If you are going to do a job, do it right!” She did live by that motto.
She was affectionately referred to “Barb Vila” because of her jack of all trades ability to remodel any room in the house. She was always up for a challenge and could not wait to start a new project. She was also a talented seamstress that did not even shy away from making a wedding dress or two.
Barb enjoyed spending time outdoors, tending to her flowers, as well as several camping and fishing trips over the years. She also enjoyed traveling to visit friends and family around the country as often as time would allow.
The family would like to thank all the medical nurses and doctors at UTMC and Hospice of Northwest Ohio for their kindness and compassion while caring for Barb.
Guests will be received by the family on Friday, June 23, 2023, from 2:00 - 5:00 pm at the Holland-Springfield Walker Funeral Home, 7438 Airport Highway, Holland, OH 43528. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
