AUDREY JANE (GARN) WILLIAMS1928 2011 On May l5, 1928, a beautiful, blue eyed baby girl was born to Raymond Vernon and Laura Ann (Tussing) Garn in Toledo, Ohio. Janie peacefully entered Gods Kingdom on November 8, 2011, with her loving family at her side. Her ancestors came to America from Holland, initially settling in Bedford, Pennsylvania. In 1834, they were early frontier settlers in Helena, Ohio. Jane grew up in the old Auburndale area, was a graduate of DeVilbiss High School Class of 1946, and Davis Business College. As a teen, Jane enjoyed dancing at Pop Lefevres and hanging out at Cowles Candy Store. Jane was working in the Personnel Department of Sears Roebuck in Toledo when she met her Bill, a returning Navy veteran. On September 3, 1955 they wed, with Gods blessing, at the Monroe Street Methodist Church. Their union of 56 years was filled with love and happiness. Professionally she was a secretary for Doehler Jarvis in Toledo; National Linen in Atlanta, Georgia, Royal Globe Insurance Company in New York City and was in retail sales at Higbees Department Store in Cleveland, Ohio. Ultimately the family returned full circle Perrysburg Township area some 35 years ago. An elegant woman, she had a deep affection for a variety of music, including the symphony, ballet and opera. Blessed with a beautiful voice, Jane leisurely sang throughout her life, and was a past member of the choir at the Monroe Street Methodist Church. Recreationally she especially enjoyed reading magazines; including National Geographic and Smithsonian, as well as watching her favorite programs; Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy and all sports programs. Jane was once a member of the Navy Wives, and an ongoing member of both the National Geographic Society and Smithsonian Institute, and served regularly at polling locations during local and national elections. A life-long sports enthusiast, Jane particularly enjoyed playing Tennis at Jermain Park, Ice Skating, and was a loyal fan of the Cleveland Indians and Browns. At an early age, she golfed with her father at Ottawa Park Golf Course. In her younger years she was an active bowler and member of the Split and Miss Club. The family often walked to the old Swayne Field to watch their Mud Hens play. Janes love and devotion for her husband, daughter, grandchildren, relatives and friends was appreciated by all who knew her. A stoic woman, she accepted lifes challenges with grace and was always quick to forgive others. Her keen sense of humor, clever wit, vibrant personality, infectious laugh and comical facial expressions brought joy to many. She had a deep appreciation and enjoyment of the beauty of nature. And she always had a special place in her heart for animals; particularly her cocker spaniel Cindy and her white cat Snowball, who was a constant companion on her lap. Janes passing was preceded by her parents, her brother Hugh Garn, sister, Thelma Garn Etue, and many other dear relatives and friends. She is survived by her devoted husband Bill (Wm. R. Williams); cherished and devoted daughter Laura Ann Williams; her two wonderful and adored grandchildren, Douglas William and Anna Jane Shanteau; as well as many wonderful neighbors and friends.
