It is with deep sorrow that his family is announcing the death of their beloved father, Ascension Salinas of Genoa, Ohio. Ascension was 98 years young when he passed away at Toledo Hospice. Ascension was born in San Juan, Texas, on May 25, 1927, and moved to Genoa for better job opportunities. He was a proud World War II Army veteran and served in the infantry in Germany, where he was a guard for prisoners of war. He also graduated from Bowling Green State University, where he studied social work. After getting his degree, he was employed by the State of Ohio, where he worked at the welfare department in Toledo.
Ascension was married to Guadalupe (Flores) Salinas, for more than 50 years, with whom he had 4 daughters, Hermelinda, Rebecca, Deborah and Sandra; grandchildren, Leslie, Diana, Marcos, Matthew and Dominic. He also had one great-grandchild.
