Alexander Gregory Schmidt passed away at the age of 32 on Sunday, January 8, 2023 at Toledo Hospital in Toledo, Ohio. He was born on April 2, 1990 in Fremont, Ohio. Alex lived a life full of laughter with his many friends and family. He loved to capture every candid moment, no matter how silly we looked in the photos, and could light up a room with his infectious smile and beautiful blue eyes. He lived a selfless life and had a heart of gold. Taken far too soon, he was put on this earth to save lives. From the boy who was drowning in a pool full of people, to the life he saved by the successful donation of his heart to a male in his 30's, his legacy will live on and he will never be forgotten.
Alex was a loving son, husband, brother, and friend. He is survived by his wife Alandra "Allie" Schmidt (Willis) whom he married on May 20, 2017, his mother Cheryl Schmidt, father Gregory Schmidt, and brothers, Ian Schmidt (Ryan Friess), and Tyler Schmidt. Alex graduated from Oak Harbor High School in 2009 and earned two associate’s degrees in Information & Computer Science from Terra State Community College in 2013. He worked as a Help Desk Technician at Bellevue Hospital for the past seven years. Alex had a passion for music. He is known by many for playing the tuba in marching band while attending high school and the brass choir while at Terra. Alex often volunteered as the sound/light technician for several Fremont Community Theater productions. From Doctor Who to Stars Wars, Alex loved attending Anime Expos and anything Sci-Fi.
