Alan Marzano

June 3, 1953 — January 22, 2026

Alan "Al" Marzano passed away on Thursday Jan. 22, 2026, at UTMC after a fall in his home. Al was born in Newark, OH on June 3, 1953, to Albert and Mary Marzano.
In 1966, after having a magical childhood living on Buckeye Lake in Hebron, OH, Al's family moved to Sylvania, OH. Al graduated from Sylvania High School in 1971. He attended Northwood University in Midland MI, then the University of Toledo, before working for the Jeep Corp. for over thirty years retiring in 2009.

Al loved animals and always had treats and scratches behind the ears for the neighbor's dogs. He enjoyed sports and was a big Ohio State Buckeye fan along with being a Toledo Rockets, Cleveland, and Cincinnati fan. But most important to him was his family, especially his cats, Gerard and Gatsby and his grand dogs, Maize and Boswell and great grand dog, Jax. On nice days you would find him walking the dogs or visiting with them during the bad weather, and he always had treats, hugs and conversations for them.

Al leaves behind his loving wife of 44 yrs, Suzanne "Sue" Marzano; stepson, Terry John (Meggan) Desmond; grandsons, Terry Jordan "J" Desmond and Casey Desmond; his sisters, Linda Dunlap and Peggy (Denny) Spencer; sister-in-law, Bonnie Lehmann; Nephews, Trevor Dunlap, Weston Dunlap; Nieces, Morgan Scheibel, Kelsi Dunlap, Erica Adams, Shannon Smith and Abby Singh.

Al was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Mary; his brother-in-law, Dave Dunlap and In-laws, Walter and Mary Jane Sarnowski.
Al is now over the Rainbow Bridge with his beloved cats, and he will be walking his grand dogs, Woodley and Nala who were waiting for their Cheech.

The family would like to thank the nurses and doctors in UTMC surgical ICU, especially Andrew, Kate, Katie and Kylie. We would also like to thank Life Connections for all their kindness and support.

There are no services scheduled, but a celebration of Al's life will take place later this year.
