Early on the morning of October 19, 2023, just weeks after celebrating her 98th birthday, Aina Broze passed peacefully from this world to be with God. Aina was preceded in death by her husband, Andrejs; father, Feoktists; mother, Anna (Strautins); her sister, Scarlet Dinvalds; and her sons Peter and Paul. She is survived by her son, Thomas; daughter-in-law, Susan (Parrish); and granddaughters, Erika and Ingrid.
Aina was born in Baldone, Latvia on September 19, 1925. To escape a pending Soviet invasion, she fled with her family to Germany in 1944, staying in displaced persons camps where she met Andrejs Broze. In 1947 Andrejs and Aina wed and in 1949 emigrated to the United States. Aina was devoted to her family and was a strong and wonderful influence on the development of her children and grandchildren. Aina was supportive of the Latvian community and throughout her life served her church and many Latvian organizations. She will be best remembered as being a loyal and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.
A memorial service will be held for Aina on December 2, 2023, at 12:00 p.m., at St. Paul’s Latvian Evangelical Lutheran Church, 30623 West Twelve Mile Road, Farmington Hills, Michigan 48334.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Kingston Residence of Sylvania and that of Ohio Living Hospice for their kindness and the care they provided to Aina.
