Eric "Rick" Fishman

Rick Fishman, 71, passed away on June 11th , 2022 at Hospice of NW Ohio. He was born on February 7th, 1951 in Toledo, OH, to parents Louis and Lilian Fishman. He grew up in the Lincolnshire neighborhood and attended Whitmer High School, class of 1969. He went on to attend the University of Toledo and received a BS in Finance. He was a member of the Chabad House synagogue. Rick worked for many years in men’s clothing stores including Lasalle’s, Neil’s menswear and Jos A Bank. He had a truly impressive tie collection. He always took pride in his clothing and always gave great advise. Later in life Rick started The Career Coach, a service helping people with resumes, interview skills and general career guidance. He excelled in this work and often shared his clients’ success stories with his family. Rick enjoyed reading, listening to music and podcasts, watching movies and binge-watching TV shows. What he loved most was spending time with his kids and grandkids. Rick was a long-suffering fan of the Detroit Tigers and the Detroit Lions. He always went into each season with hope and optimism. Rick loved baseball. He played catcher for the Whitmer Panthers in high school. Later in life he played in the Roy Hobbs baseball league. Rick was preceded in death by his parents Lilian and Louis Fishman and his sister Susan Mahler. He is survived by his children, Jake (Jenny) Fishman, Karen (Nate) Fishman-Nowels, Asher (Stephanie) Fishman, and Michael (Julie) Fishman; grandchildren Ethan, Caitlyn, Olivia, Abel, and Isla; nephews, Adam, Jeremy and Brad Mahler; friend Jill Simon. Rick’s family would like to thank all the doctors and nurses that were involved in his care this past year and a half. A very special thank you to the staff of Hospice of NWO.
