Wilma I Bortles

Wilma Irene Bortles

passed  gently into the waiting arms of her God, her friends & her family on Tuesday, 2/2/10

After a courageous year long battle with cancer, 

Her children & grandchildren singing at her bedside, she left us to go dancing

with Her husband Dale, who preceeded her in death May 19, 1998

Wilma Managed Sanitary Dry Cleaners, the business office for Drs. Feig, Poole & Sydlowski,

& finally, security at the Toledo Art Museum, where

lovingly she was known as the “hammer” until retirement Jan. 2009.

Studying at the Bach Conservatory, Wilma was a known concert pianist in the area in earlier years.

Also preceding her in death were her parents, Drs. Oliver & Gertrude Knisley,

& her biological mother Alyce Mandler.

She leaves Daughters, Randi (Fred) Lincoln of Fort Wayne, IN,

Robin (Kim) Schmidt of Toledo, & son Mark Bortles of Toledo.

Also, Grandchildren: Joshua Lincoln & Stephani McDowell (Ryan) of Fort Wayne, IN 

Kristi Brandeberry (Jamie) of Bowling Green

Staci Sanders, Lyndsi Bortles ,Carissa Schmidt & Derrick Bortles of Toledo.

Great Grandchildren, Kassidi, Jordan, Grace,  Drew, Drake and 1 on-the-way!

Many thanks to the precious care by her Oncology team: Drs John Geisler /Kelly Manahan of U of T & Kris Bowser, N.P. & the love & dignity to the entire family at the NW Ohio Hospice.

Donations to: Park Congregational Church, Toledo, NW Ohio Hospice, or Toledo Museum of Art

ARRANGEMENTS: Saturday, 2/6/2010 at

Park Congregational Church, 1456 Harvard Blvd, Toledo

Visitation with family: 11a-2p, service with sharing: 2p.
